Post Of The Ages

What I Listed To While Writing This Post... Over And Over...;_;
Its Like Crack

Well the new season has begun and we’ve been introduced to some great animes (Clannad) and some horrible ones that well never watch no matter how desperate we get (Kawaii Jenny). I originally planned on making this about the awesomeness of Clannad, but now it makes more sense to make a giant post filled with every new anime I’ve seen so far, my thoughts on them and if I’ll be blogging on it or not. Well start off with the anime I was the most excited for when I saw the list for animes being released this season, Clannad.

  • Clannad:

    "Follow Me Home Little Girl,
Ive Got All The Candy You Want!"

Clannad is the story of a “delinquent” as they call him (Seems the definition for delinquents changed since I left high school), and how he meets a girl talking to herself in the middle of the path, talking about how she wished things would never change. He introduces himself to her after making a comment on how life won’t change unless you want it to or some bullcrap like that, and their friendship begins, but he finds out that she isn’t exactly like all the other kids.

    "Look, A Penny!"

Clannad is another anime based on a KEY game with the same name, and the same feel as Kanon. Dude who doesn’t like the city running around until a girl comes and makes his life happy again until something goes wrong and magic starts happening and usually someone dies, it’s been the same mold since Air, not that it’s a bad thing. Key animes are well known for making amazing, loveable characters that get under your skin, there’s always one of them in a Key anime that you’ll fall in love with. Key animes also have amazing animation, especially the background scenes with ranging mountains, bustling city streets, or just a simple bedroom; they somehow make me want to re-watch the anime with the sound off and just look at the scenery. Another thing Key is good for is making me cry, because usually my favorite character dies at some point and my second favorite will have a nervous breakdown, it’s odd how fast things go from happy times to everyone mourning in Key animes, but I guess that’s a realistic aspect.

Reminds Me So Much Of Kanon Its Amazing

Clannad’s first two episodes were great; introducing most of the main characters and some situations they’re in. Tomoyo is probably my favorite character so far, even though she’s only had like 2 minutes of screen time overall (Funny how word tried to replace Tomoyo with Tomboy), but after that action scene in episode 1 and the 100+ hit combo in episode 2, there isn’t much competition. Ill be blogging on this one for sure, so look forward to me ranting on how awesome Tomoyo is.

    • Blue Drop:

Its All Fun And Games Until Youre Coughing Up A Lung From Avian Influenza

Blue Drop is the story of a bratty little bitch who gets shipped away from her grandma because she hates her guts and doesn’t want to see her ugly face anymore, but that’s not completely true. You see the little girl is quite a brat, but it’s mostly because she’s sad and confused that her grandmother sent her to this Private School, thinking her grandmother sent her there to get rid of her, which is obviously wrong. The first episode was mostly an introduction episode, allowing us to meet the characters and to realize that something isn’t exactly right in this quiet town, especially that homicidal girl with glowing blue eyes, yes it seems something’s not quite right. Besides attempted murder, not much else happened; they walked around the school, we learnt why she was shipped to the school and we learn that it IS possible to stand in a giant flock of seagulls and not get crapped on. Most of the first episode was kind of boring, I was only interested when my wish came true and someone tried to strangle the spoiled brat and when they introduced the Principal… his hair, it’s so awesome.

    "Because Youre Worth It"

Another anime with breathtaking backgrounds, but the character animation seems to lack, making me want to look at the shoddy depeneur then the people talking in front of it, though it’s not like they were saying anything interesting anyways. We haven’t had a chance to meet all the students yet, so there’s still a chance that well meet some awesome characters (beside the homeroom teacher), and yet I wouldn’t bet on it. The only reason I’m didn’t drop the anime after the first episode is because of what happened in the last 5 seconds of the episode, plus I the promotional poster has a silhouette of a mecha on it, so I’m guessing well see some awesome battle scenes sometime in the series, which is something worth waiting for. If there’s anything I’ve learnt from watching Tengen (Mostly from the episodes after Kamina died), it’s that series that seem like crap sometimes can be amazing. Ill blog on this depending on how the next episode plays out, If I have no material to go on, I’ll probably just watch it silently and throw out a post on it once it’s done airing, we’ll just have to see.

    • Night Wizard:

    IMACHARGINMALAZUR

The new Tokyo Majin, this story is about a girl that transfers to a new school and immediately makes a new friend whose president of the astronomy club and also a Shrine maiden. While at the same time, going to scenes of a random GAR student getting sent to an alternate dimension by a rich loli to battle demons. Later on we find out that not only does the Shrine maiden have a similar power as the GAR student, but the newly transferred student has powers as well, and it’s up to them to protect the world.

Kinda Odd How The Thing Just Doesnt Smash Him With Its OTHER Hand

Man, even as I wrote that description, it felt like the basis for countless animes, and I’m not going to lie and say Night Wizard is a whole lot different than Tokyo Majin, since the plot is quite similar and so is the situation they’re thrown into. Yet Night Wizard has a more upbeat atmosphere, filled with more jokes and fun then Tokyo was and the characters so far are simply just better. Don’t ask me why I bash Tokyo Majin so much, for some reason I just didn’t enjoy watching it at all, and I might get the same feeling for Night Wizard later on as well, but for now it’s got everything that Tokyo didn’t, and I’m looking forward to the next episode.

    Hoho, Caught A Big One

The character animation is particularly well done, I especially like the girls faces in this series, especially Shrine-girl, she my favorite so far, but we do catch a glimpse of a Nagato-ish character earlier on in the episode. Nice background graphics (saying that too much, I know), good OP and ED… its really up to the writers, this anime could go either way, everything’s mediocre and they need that ONE thing to throw it to the dogs along with Tokyo or a plot twist or awesome situation to make it a whole lot better. Ill keep watching it to see where it ends up, and ill blog on it when it finally hits that definition point.

    • Shakugan No Shana II:

I Like Where This Is Going...

Shakugan no Shana is the story of a boy who should be dead, but because he has a special item in his soul, he can’t die, and a girl who is a “Flame Haze” those who are responsible for maintaining the equality of dead and living by making sure the evil spirits don’t eat too many souls and knock everything out of whack, destroying the world. Starting off from last time, Yuji and Shana encounter what seems to be a weak spirit but soon find out that its existence is tied to that of something much larger. Besides that, there is still the quiet raging war between Shana and Yukari over Yuji, though he’s too brain-dead to realize it yet. There are no giant changes, but that’s a good thing considering the first Shana was great to begin with.

Always Loved That Cape, Trans-Dimensional Pocket AND Sheilds Anything

The boys down at J.C. know how to start off a new season, keeping us entertained and reminding us what happened last season ingeniously by giving the evil spirit the ability to create a false reality around people based on their memories. Hence the first episode was mostly Yuji running around wondering why everything was re-occurring and why people can’t answer questions unless he knows the answer himself. This allowed us to revisit the main bad guys from last season and some of the situations they were forced into; yet still wonder why everything was happening again, which was really smart.

Wewt, We Missed You Shana ;_; <- Tears Of Joy

Shana is Shana; there’s been no improvement graphically although they got a pretty kickass OP, and I can’t help but miss the old ED from the first season, I liked that song. Shana’s still being voiced by Rie Kugimiya, which is probably the most important thing and according to the intro, we can expect some new characters to start appearing. So long as they don’t get in the way of YujixShana they’re fine with me. *GLARES AT YUKARI* I think me and Miku agreed that he’d be blogging this one, once he quickly goes through the first series, but the chances of that are slim, so we’ll see. It’ll be blogged one way or another.

    • Kaiji:

Just In Case You Havent Seen "The Nose" Yet... There It Is...

Kaiji is the story of a dude who’s out of his luck, with no job, shoulder deep in debt and a gambling problem. On top of that a yakuza member came by and informed him that he owes them 3 million yen, which is apparently a lot, since he was an idiot and cosigned a contract of a coworker a while back and now that coworker had disappeared. All seems lost, but since the Yakuza are such a kind and caring bunch, they offer Kaiji a trip of a boat of magic and wonder, saying if he can come out first in a large gambling tournament, all he debts will be gone and he’ll have a little left over for candy and trading cards, but if he doesn’t win hell become a slave and work 3 years to pay it all off, win-win situation. Kaiji turns out to be dumber then he looks and agrees, instead of you know… getting a lawyer and solving this in a proper fashion, but that’d be crazy.

Yayayay, The SNCJ: Scary Nose Clan of Japan

I’ll get something out of the way; Kaiji looks very similar to that of the Froot Loops Toucan, and while not many characters are any more charming, there is a certain feel that the animation adds to it that makes it tolerable, I just wouldn’t want to walk into him by accident and have my eye poked out. Some might be wondering how this animation can do anything but provide endless jokes and references, but I assure you it does something else, I’m just not entirely sure what that is. It creates a comic feel and seemingly adds more drama, if that makes any sense at all. That aside, Kaiji could very well be a good anime if done right, though I’m not entirely sure it’ll be going in the right direction after seeing they’ll be playing Rock Paper Scissors for money at the end of Episode 1. This could be, in theory, similar to the movie “Maverick” which I enjoyed, with dramatic poker games and everything on the line, or it could very well be the next Yu-gi-oh, it really could go either way.

Another Scary Nose... For Your Enjoyment

If the card games are dramatic and epic, and some new characters reveal their oddly shaped noses, there’s a good chance ill blog on this one. Yet if everyone’s screaming their card out as they throw it down and some LSD induced colors start flashing about the screen I’m sorry to say I’ll be forced to use Kanji and his boomerang snout as a backscratcher for the rest of the season.

    • Minami-ke:

    Its Just Pure Awesome

Minami-ke, which forced me to add the word “Ke” into my dictionary so that annoying jagged line would go away, is the “story” of 3 sisters and their everyday lives; ranging from kissing, waking up, dinner and boys. If you think this “plot” sounds familiar then bravo for watching Ichigo Marshmallow or being so horribly bored that you actually read my review on it… either way. Minami-ke is the bastard child of Ichigo, and that in no possible way known to mankind is, and will ever be, a bad thing. If not for the fact that it’s very similar to Ichigo, I get the odd and almost indescribable feeling that it’s going to be better.

    Seriously... Go Download It

Ichigo Marshmallow was good because it had many playful aspects, amazing characters and funny situations. Minami-ke has shown so far that they have all that down, no problems, but it has something that Ichigo definitely did not… older girls and boys. As much as I hate to admit it, Ichigo was directed towards a younger audience, the most ecchi thing we got was Noboue getting her bikini taken off, and we didn’t even get to see that. I’m not saying that Minami-ke will have full blown nudity and lesbian floozies, but it is directed towards a more mature audience, with one of the situations they end up covering being love and boys, which is always fun. Especially now that we have a chance that one of the main characters will end up getting lai-… a boyfriend, which always causes more funny moments and gives us a little satisfaction seeing our favorite girl reacting under romantic circumstances (Writing that made me feel a tad sad inside, but its true).

Im Not Asking You... Do It

You can bet your last dollar I’ll be blogging this series, though I may end up recapping a lot more on the series to make up for lack of material, which was the largest problem with me blogging on Lucky Star, it was an amazing series, but nothing really happened, which gave me nothing to comment on. Seeing as how Minami-ke will have characters fully equipped with the Y chromosome which will most likely lead to more drama and laughs, I’ll probably have some material there. Either way, it’ll be blogged, whether you like it or not.

    • Gundam 00:

    My Gundam Doesnt Do That ;_;

(My god this is a long post) Gundam 00 is the story of some mecha’s flying around and blowing each other up, that what it’s always been, and all it ever will be, but I’ll be nice and go into more detail. Once upon a time there was a world full of war (crazy, I know), the government focused mainly on military endeavors and fight off the terrorists who are a tad grumpy towards the fact that they have little to no energy or something, it’s complicated, leave me alone. So to end the horrible wars, a group calling themselves Celestial Beings decided to deal a little tough love and destroy all the government forces, along with the terrorists.

    Sure, It Vaporizes Mechas,
But Does It Have 4 Wheel Drive?

The first two episodes are pretty slow and mainly introduce you to the very bland and overly complicated plot. Gone are the days of “Our power crystals been stolen, let’s set out on a journey and get it back”, now we have to have stories with multiple enemies, politic interference and unneeded plot twists, which I’m sure 00 is full of, though I’m so lost I wouldn’t even notice. The only things keeping me semi-interested are the interstellar space battles that last roughly 2 seconds per mecha before they’re turned to vapor. Perhaps the fact that I’ve never seen a single Gundam episode forces my thoughts on the series to be uneducated and rash, that may be so, but people shouldn’t have to have seen every Gundam made to like and enjoy the newer ones.

Wonder What Kinda Connection Shes Got...

I’ve heard many people discussing the over complexity of Gundam and how the drama flies around like Porco Rosso on speed (Bad Otaku joke), yet I decided to watch it nevertheless, and got what I was warned would come, I suppose closing your eyes and hoping for the best only applies to the Americans and following their President and not to choosing what new animes to watch. Yes, I made an American joke and I don’t care what you think because only 3 people read this blog and only 2 of them will even bother reading this far down. Anyways, I plan on dropping Gundam, something Sunrise should have done a long time ago, In contrast to Tengen, Gundam simply fails to deliver and requires too much brainpower to follow, something I’m lacking already.

    • Dragonaut:

When The Pimp Hand Comes In Handy

Dragonaut is the story of a teenager named Jin who’s rocket gets blown to fuck-land and his mother and sister are killed in the crash and he’s the only survivor, his father, who’s in charge of launching rockets or something, is blamed for making a launch error and suddenly Jin finds himself horribly alone, forced to live with relatives that don’t even want him, he struggles to find the means to get up from his bed in the morning. Then while walking home from a long hard day of no screen time, he witnesses what appears to be a large hulking monster eating a woman. The Hulk (I’m calling him this from now on) decided it was a fine night to play hide and kill, Jin being the genius he is decides it would be safest to run up a partially built building. He ends up being thrown from the 93475th floor and rockets towards the ground, BUT he’s saved by a super powered version of Simca from Air Gear.

    Rwar~

Honestly this anime reminded me of Witchblade and Fate Stay Night. That’s basically what this anime is, women with large breasts run about, the power and battle sense is pretty much the same and puny weak humans are suddenly controlling super powerful beings. It’s about as good as it sounds, especially the titty part, some characters are amazingly… well drawn, to be polite. The story’s kind of original, and the animation is pretty decent.

    Lelouch And Suzaku Ripoff :/

Dragonaut looks like it's going in the right direction. Everythings above average and the plots original, and the female characters are enough reason to watch it alone. They were even kind enough to throw in some half assed CG for the dragons. Hopefully they'll elaborate on the plot a little more, since right now everytings kind of a giant mess. Dragons, super powered humanoids and tits seem to be the only surefire thing we have right now. Ill blog on it when the story starts moving along, and ill be sure to fill my posts with rated T for Tittytastic pictures, so dont worry.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

Overall theres been some good animes and some bad ones, I'll give each series I bashed another episode before I decide to stop or not, except Gundam, that ones gone for sure. My personal favourite for the newly released animes are Clannad and Minami-ke, both amazing animes that excel in their genre of anime, and I cant wait to watch more on it. The loser of the group of course being Gundam 00, with its overly complicated plot and lack of ANYTHING intresting, but thats just me. Listen to my opinion if you want, or go back to your own world and disregard me completely, I couldnt care less at this point. All I care about right now is pouring myself a coke and watching Hero Tales and Bamboo Blade, as reccomended by Rabid. Leave comments on how amazingly awesome I am for commenting on all the series I've seen so far (Except Genshiken... As good of an anime it is, it simply isnt a good blogging anime, Ill do an overall post on it when its over, thats probably it). Feel free to reccomend me some other animes I havent seen yet, that you think are good so I can tell you to shove off... but not really, Im always looking for more animes to watch.

See you next week (Hopefully), konakona
