Spice and Wolf - Episode 1

Hope That Sheep Becomes a Main Char, He Looks Cool...

Well its 2:37 in the morning, I decided sleep was for the week and that I needed no more of it, so now Im sitting here barley awake as I download random episodes of random series, much like I usually do. I realize I havent been blogging at all latley and the only excuse I can think of is the Orange Box and Gears of War. Miku and myself have been playing TF2 as well as Garrys Mod 10. Anyways, blogging is a good way to kill the time and Ive got a few minutes until the next episode of Clannad comes in, so I might as well make a post for old times sake.

Character Animation is MEH, Background Animation is WOW

Well the seasons ended along with the year (Happy New Year by the way) and along with it Minami-ke, one of the funniest animes Ive seen in a long time. The fact that theres a second season is little consolation after having looked over the screenshots… its not pretty. For some bizzare reason, everything but the voice actors changed, including the animators and directors. I cant think of any reason as to why theyd change everything, I was comfortable and happy with the old Minami-ke until some jackass replaced my nice comfy pillow with a dead baby. Ill probably download the first episode, just to test the waters so to speak and if it sucks I WILL drop it, don’t doubt me… This stupid decision has made me question if the people in charge of the major decisions in anime are sane, yet again. Ranting aside, lets take a look at a new series that looks like its going to be pretty good, Spice and Wolf.

<3!!!

Spice and Wolf takes place in a medeial-ish kind of fantasy world and is the story of the traveling merchant Lawrence and how he finds the “ Wolf God” Horo sleeping in the back of his carriage. She explains to him that shes decided to move away from the villiage she once helped, saying that they don’t need her anymore and that she wants to go back home in the far North. After proving shes actually Horo, Lawrence relucatntly decided to help her, thus the story begins of how a simple merchant helped a God.

Omg, Horo Is Loooooovvvveee

Spice and Wolf started off kinda slow, introducing you to most of the main characters and their situations while also explaining the legend of Horo, which is pretty important to the plot. Besides that, I really love the characters, Lawrence is laid back yet nice guy who pokes fun at other peoples flaws, Chloe the playful girl who looks up to Lawrence and seeminlgy loves him though Lawrence still sees her as a kid to take her seriously, Horo the “God” and her large ego while still being nice enough to take other people into consideraition. Looking at the ED I can see theres still some characters yet to be introduced, yet seem just as interesting. My prediciton is LawrencexHoro with a jealous Chloe towards the end of the series, Horos just to moe to not be the main girl for Lawrence.

Random Scenery Kuz I Started Taking Random Screenies

Going into the animation, I really enjoy the background scenery, it captures that older look of the time the animes supposedly taking place. Trees all over, wooden barrels and tables, broken carriages and mugs of mead, all of which are drawn and colored to perfection. The characters on the otherhand are medicore, perhaps Ive been too spoiled with Zetsubou and Minami, but theyre nothing special yet not bad. The way the did the censoring on Horo when we see her for the first time made me wonder if it was being censored, or if she just didn’t have any nipples at all. There are BETTER ways to not have a titty-shot, shame the animators couldn’t think of any. Besides that the music is good, once again keeping with the time, penny whisltes and such, nothing to write home about. Except the ED is quite addicting, Engrish song about amazingly random things, thats always good. It all comes together quite well, making an anime worth watching.

Yeah, More Random Screenies... Shes a Cutie Though...

Spice and Wolf gives the impression its going to be good but not the next Tengen in terms of setting the bar for anything. It’ll be funny, itll be cute, itll have its moments of shock and sorrow, but when it ends well all just say “Well, I wonder whats being released next season”. Ill keep watching it, and I suggets other do as well, especially if you like neko-girls as much as I do but also if youre looking for a good anime in what seems to be a rather dissapointing season.

Hawt LS Wallpaper Because I Didnt Take Enough Screens D:

Whats next? Maybe a series review on Mushishi, one of my favourite mangas which inspired me to watch the anime as well, which turned out to be just as amazing. Ill most likley finish that within the week, so the review should follow quickly after. Trying to get back into the swing of thing here, check back for more reviews.
