Moetan 01

Was there a law for how moe an anime can be? Some unheard rule about it? Because if there was, Moetan shattered them in about 12 different ways. The shows so kawaii it feels like a Saturday morning cartoon for little girls mixed with Power Rangers and Demonbane. Is that a good thing? Yes, yes it is. Its so good, but it feels so bad.

"Mmmm... Ramen..."

Moetan starts off in some other world where it appears some magical court room is sentencing some powerful magician for doing something wrong, he runs away, and gets transported to earth as a duck. Yes… a duck. Besides the very random opening (with no explanation of what the hell is actually going on), the entire episode of Moetan is filled to the brim with loli-goodness, echiness, magic and English lessons, hurray. Yes, English lessons, Moetan was originally created as a manga in a magazine aimed to teach Otakus English by making their teacher a magical loli and putting her in funny situations. Apparently the idea was so good they had to make an anime… good thinking. English is included in EVERY episode, or so they say, they go over English lessons discreetly during the show, and after the credits the viewer has to study the sentence of the day and try and remember it in English for next week. Its almost ingenious, I tell you.

"Moar Loli Goodness?! Yessss~"

Im looking forward to more of this season, god knows I need to brush up on my English. Its good to get away from watching the normal action anime and sit back and have a beer, maybe a bucket of chickenwings and have few laughs at the expense of a magical loli. Isnt that what Saturdays are all about? Not all animes have to have awesome CG and plots to be awesome, as far as I can tell Moetan is going to be just fine making ecchi jokes and teaching Otakus how.to,use;grammar’in-english. Considering Lucky Star was also an educational means for Otakus before it was an anime, I have high hopes for Moetan, and also hope more people get word of it.

Also, my sources (Myself) have informed me that AFK has started subbing an anime called Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, a dark comedy about a depressed man. So I guess that explains why Lucky Star is taking longer then it normally does to be released. Still… taking a while… Expect to see a post on Sayonara Zetsubou sometime soon, depending on when Lucky Star is released.
